POSITION OVERVIEW

MTI Motion – Muskego (formerly PST) is seeking a Thread Roll Set-up and Operate to grind, sand or polish using hand tools or hand-held power tools, a variety of metal, wood, stone, clay, plastic or glass objects. Includes chippers, buffers and finishers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Feeds parts into automatic thread-roll machines by studying the part, blueprints, specification or instructions.
  • Operates thread-roll machines producing external roll threads in various types and sizes of fasteners, and removes parts at the end of the machine cycles.
  • Performs basic-to-light thread-roll machine set ups and set-up modifications in the operation according to blueprints, router package, specifications and/or special instructions.
  • Observes and performs proper dies speeds, die selection and rolling cycles to produce parts to fulfill thread requirements.
  • Performs machine-operating adjustments, regulates and controls to detect out-of-tolerance machining or control plan requirements. Observes and adjusts the controls functions of coolant flow and machine rates.
  • Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning, basic sequence of operations and in-process inspections with assistance from lead. Major discrepancies are reported to supervisor or lead when machines maintenance is required or needed.
  • May be required to give feedback to Manufacturing team, Engineering team or others to document procedures and drawings.
  • Checks tooling, and notifies supervisor if tooling in non-conforming.
  • Able to read routers and operation drawings to determine machining dimensions and requirements.
  • Checks threading on test parts to assure conformance to specifications. Checks for such factors as pitch, angle, length, diameter and related factors.
  • Utilizes full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before start, during and completion of production run.
  • Inspects parts to ensure conformation, dimension and tolerance levels with specifications and blueprints using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread wires and optical comparator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Machining: One year preferred.
  • Thread rolling: One year preferred.
  • A working knowledge of relevant associated specifications (ISO9001, AS9100, AS9101, AS9102) is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies is preferred.

  • Ability to sit and walk.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires repetitive movement.
  • Dexterity to position and move small parts.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Requires bending or twisting.
  • Requires exposure to hazardous equipment.
  • Requires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites or stings.
